Bio
Kaede a.k.a. kaedemelodii began her career playing keyboard as a member of a high school band. During Kaede’s school years, her band played many freestyle jazz sessions, however they also enjoyed playing a variety of other genres such as Soul, Funk, Latin, Reggae, Rock, Punk, Techno-pop, similar to Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO). Ryuichi Sakamoto, the world-renowned pianist, once picked up their demo and showed some interest.
Kaede eventually gravitated towards more of a Hip-Hop sound, since Hip-Hop gave her the freedom to incorporate many different genres of music into one. Later on she joined a new Hip-Hop team with her friends Illicit Tsuboi and KCD (the art director of BBP).
Inevitably, Kaede began to produce tracks individually, because she graduated from university, got a job at a company. Being heavily influenced by Asian Pop and Hip-Hop, she eventually went to China to study language and music. While going to school and living in China was quite of a culture shock to what she was used to in Japan, Kaede was able to gain a lot of insight on Asian influenced production. In addition to her time studying in China, Kaede has formed connections within the Korean Hip-Hop scene. She has worked with, and become good friends with such Korean artists as junggigo and Jazzy Ivy.
While Kaede was studying in China, she was away from the Japanese music scene. However, in 2009 she enthusiastically began to restart her career and reemerged on the scene after singing chorus throughout i-dep’s Pop Out! What!!! album.
Since 2010, Kaede had been the Korean coordinator for Libyus Music. She first helped with the release of AM7, by Jazzy Hip-Hop producer AM7 a.k.a. tsunenori. She specifically coordinated the collaboration between Korean rapper Jazzy Ivy and AM7. She has also joined the Japanese production team ZDW!? as a producer, keyboardist, pianist, and organist, bringing her jazzy and groovy style of music to the production unit.
